Louise: A Dedicated Advocate for Senior Housing and Community Development

Louise brings extensive experience in real estate acquisitions, property maintenance, and renovations to the forefront of her work. With a deep-seated commitment to fostering community-oriented housing solutions for seniors, she is dedicated to creating spaces that prioritize care, dignity, and connection.

Co-Founder of Radical Resthomes Inc. (RRH)

As a co-founder of Radical Resthomes Inc. (RRH), Louise has been instrumental in transforming the organization’s vision into reality. In 2021, RRH received a generous grant from the Mireille and Lina Saputo Foundation in Montreal, enabling the team to move beyond the “talking” stage and take actionable steps toward their mission.

A Catalyst for Innovation

Around the same time, RRH successfully completed a Start-Up program at Concordia’s District 3 Social Innovation Lab. Inspired by this milestone, Louise and her team embraced the challenge of transitioning from planning to execution, taking meaningful strides to redefine housing options for seniors through innovative, community-centered solutions.

The Movement Is Real: A New Vision for Senior Housing

Research on co-living and co-housing models

Co-housing and co-living modelsIntroduction: A Vision Turns into Reality
At Radical Resthomes, we’ve long dreamed of redesigning senior housing, not just as a place to live, but as a thriving community where people truly belong. What started as an idea shared by a few has now become something much bigger. After connecting with like-minded projects across the globe, we can confidently say—the movement is real.

Building a Global Network of Change-Makers
When we first started reaching out to other community housing projects, we weren’t sure what to expect. Would people be open to sharing their experiences? Would we find others who were as passionate about reshaping aging as we are? The answer was a resounding “yes.” Every project we contacted agreed to talk. They shared the highs, the lows, and everything in between, all in hopes of guiding us on our journey. More than that, they expressed excitement about what we’re doing and encouraged us to keep pushing forward.

Learning from the Pioneers
These conversations have been invaluable. As we’ve learned from others who have walked the path of redesigning senior housing, we’ve gained a wealth of knowledge that has shaped our approach. Some of our original ideas have evolved, while others have become even more essential to our vision. Most importantly, we’ve seen firsthand the power of community—both inside the housing projects and in the way these projects engage with the broader community.

The Power of Community
The importance of building a strong, supportive community cannot be overstated. It’s not just about providing a roof over someone’s head; it’s about creating a space where people can thrive, connect, and support one another. We’ve learned that true success in this kind of housing project lies in how well the community is built and how it interacts with the world outside. These insights are helping us refine our plans for Radical Resthomes, and we’re more confident than ever that we’re on the right track.

We Are Not Alone: A Global Movement for Change
Perhaps the most profound takeaway from our journey so far is this: we are not alone. There is a global community of innovators and visionaries working to change the way we think about aging. We are part of a growing movement to reimagine what it means to “age in place.”

Looking Ahead: The Future of Radical Resthomes
We are still in the early stages, but the future is bright. Once we get off the ground, Radical Resthomes will take it one step further—organizing an international convention for the movers and shakers who are leading the charge in redefining aging in place. The future of senior living is being reshaped, and we’re proud to be a part of that transformation.

Conclusion: Join Us on This Journey
If you’re passionate about rethinking senior housing and aging in place, we’d love to hear from you. The movement is real, and together, we can build something that truly changes lives.

Radical Resthomes in La Presse!
